Yesterday the president sat down with the two individuals at the center of a racial firestorm (set off by the president’s non-prompter comments) for a beer and some conversation revolving around a “teachable moment” on race relations.   Along for the ride was Mr. Biden.  Here is a link but no real information as to what was discussed:

This article is replete with what I will refer to as “Beerisms”, and rightfully so.  The whole ordeal was a non-event and should have never gotten to this point in the first place.  At minimum, the president should have simply stated that he had “misspoke” when jumping into the fray by saying that, even though he did not have all the facts, the police acted “stupidly” and left it at that.  Then stood on the “no comment” foundation.  But, no.  As it turned out, by exercising his community organizer skills and calling for this “beer summit”, I believe he only proved he has a problem, a personal problem, dealing with color of skin over content of character.

I now submit to you article number two with audio from Glenn Beck, where he makes this case as to why he believes Mr. Obama is a racist:

This is sure to set off a new firestorm of controversy and conversation, both sides leveling accusations at one another.  We can only hope that cooler heads will ultimately prevail and we can get on with the business at hand.  You know, revamping the health care system, placing into law confiscatory taxation in the name of global climate change, healing the economy by printing trillions and trillions of unbacked dollars, etc.  As it stands though, I’m not sure even the proverbial fat lady singing will bring this debacle to an end.  Sadly, the whole affair strongly points to the fact that, even with a black president in office, a black governor in the state of Massachusetts, a black mayor in Cambridge and a black professor at the local college isn’t enough “proof” that we have truly arrived at the place Martin Luther King envisioned; a place where we judge someone, not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.  Maybe someday……….

PostHeaderIcon Cash For Clunkers Debacle

Here are two links to articles that address qualifying for the newest government giveaway program dubbed “cash for clunkers”. Looks as though, just as it seems with every government hand out, this one is also doomed to failure after the horse is already out of the barn!

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jul/28/cash-for-clunkers-bashed-analysts-question-program/

Especially telling is this quote from the article:

“Auto site Edmunds.com forecasts that the program will stimulate the sale of only 50,000 vehicles that would not otherwise have been sold.  The $1 billion program would therefore be spending $20,000 to foster the sale of each additional car.”

Might as well just cut a check for the first 50,000 people to sign up and give them a free vehicle!

This article from Glenn Beck covers more of the sinister reasons for getting clunkers off the road.

What ever happened to giving people in need a hand up instead of a hand out? Unfortunately, as usual, the government is not in the business of putting themselves out of business. Instead, they are busy insuring that they will always have a job at the expense of their constituents by passing laws creating a very narrow set of rules in order to even qualify for the hand out!  Another example of our hard earned tax dollars at work…..NOT!!

PostHeaderIcon Global Warming Is The New Religion

Here is a link to a very interesting and provocative article based on a new book entitled “Heaven and Earth — Global Warming: The Missing Science” by Ian Plimer who is a geologist and professor of mining geology at Adelaide University in Australia.

http://www.vancouversun.com/news/Global+warming+religion+First+World+urban+elites/1835847/story.html

Give it a good read.  It points out, among other things, two ideas I happen to agree with.

One, that we as a prosperous society are being made to feel we have committed some grievous “sin” against the earth and must “repent” through changing our lifestyle of prosperity and success, as well as pay “penance” to the “church” of global warmists (does this sound at all familiar in the arena of Religion?) in order to be “forgiven” by means of cap and trade laws (among other “pending” fees and taxes).

Two, that throughout the history of this planet there have been ice ages and global warming ages and that the global warming periods were much more agreeable  to a better life than the ice ages were.

But, read the article.  It puts it into perspective far better than I could…..
