Here Comes The Goremobile
The latest “investment” of our wonderful government to advance the hybrid auto industry comes at the hands of none other than former Vice President Al Gore, award winning commentator and Nobel Peace prize winner. The “investment”? The hybrid vehicle, dubbed the “Karma”. The price? A paltry $89,000. Mr. Gore has already plunked down money for one.
Why am I posting this? Is it because the money is coming out of my taxpayer pocket; yes. Is it the price tag, thus placing it out of reach of the general population’s price range; absolutely. Is it because it will be built in Finland?! Yes yes yes!!! Whatever happened to “creating or saving” jobs here in America?!

Within this article is this quote:
Scott Redmond, CEO of XP Vehicles Inc., said he met with DOE officials twice in Washington after applying for a $40 million loan to develop a $15,000 to $25,000 hybrid, and that both times he was told his application looked good. Since receiving a rejection letter from DOE in August, Redmond said, he has been unable to get a full explanation as to why his request was turned down.
So, we have someone who is interested in building an affordable hybrid, and only needs $40 million, who will not receive government funding to build a vehicle within reach of the average American, while Al Gore’s endorsement expedites a $529 million loan to build an exotic hybrid in another country!
When attempting to get an explanation as to why Mr. Redmond’s request was turned down, even though he had been led to believe his application “looked good”, the following quote was all he got:
Mr. Rogers said he was not at liberty to discuss individual applications that had been turned down, but said the process has been handled fairly and objectively.
Asked whether Mr. Gore had any influence on Fisker’s application, the DOE’s Rogers said, “None at all.“
Uh huh!

Hurry Up And Wait
Here is a link to eaglesviews.org addressing the president’s position to “take it slow” regarding the request to send more troops to Afghanistan. I will let the writer’s words say it all:
