Devastating Earthquake In Chile
Before the effects of the deadly earthquake recently experienced by Haiti have had the chance to fade into our memories, Chile is rocked by one estimated to be even more devastatingly powerful coming in at over 8.5 on the Richter scale. As catastrophic as this current shifting of the earth’s crust is, I wonder out loud just how long it will take the ‘know it alls’ to spout their belief as to the ‘why’?
Consider some of the thinking as to the ‘why’ after Haiti’s earthquake. First up, Hugo Chavez:
Next, Danny Glover:

And last but certainly not least, Pat Robertson:

It is interesting that, in all the blame to go around, could it simply be that the earth is to blame? Or, is it really something ’supernatural’ flexing it’s ‘end-time’ muscles? No matter, whatever the cause in my opinion, this life is never a walk in the park guarantee that everything will always be sweetness and lite.
How does that song go: “into everyone’s life a little rain must fall”? Let us have a moment of silence for the victims and once again roll up our collective sleeves to help in any way we can. It is in times like this that we humans truly set aside our differences and work together for the common good….and then go back to choosing up sides as to who is right and who is wrong!
It’s Different Now That I’m In Charge!
The following link reveals that the president has extended the same Patriot Act that he and his fellow Democrats constantly demonized during the eight years of the Bush administration:

Spoken like a true politician, this is another example of going from ‘do as I say, not as I do’ to ‘do as I do, not as I say’.
Think back to the recent ‘change of heart’ regarding the war in Iraq and Afghanistan from being ‘against the war before being for it’ and it potentially being a success due to the Obama administration being in power.
Just goes to show what a true politician is these days and why the letter behind their name means nothing!
Paging Mr. Gore, Paging Mr. Al Gore
Today’s link is to an article that succinctly sums up the climate debate thus far. Aptly titled “Al Gore’s Nine Lies” (of which I suspect it to be a spin on the “nine lives” phrase), it reveals just how short-sighted humans can be when predicting doom and gloom. It also points out how ’sound bite oriented’ our society has become and the danger that, just as surely as spring follows winter, we will soon forget all the record snowfall and low temperatures due to it getting hotter and dryer! At that time, Al and his cohorts will once again crank up the fearmongering that is currently referred to as ‘global climate change’:

The question is: will we remember digging out from all that ‘global warming induced’ snow four months from now, or once again believe just how powerful an influence we have on the planet and try to throw some more PC money at the problem to assuage our collective guilt by being way too prosperous a country?
