Do(n’t) Hold Your Breath Part 3

Here is a link to an article stating that carbon dioxide emissions decreased in 2008 by 2.8 % which is the largest drop in 19 years.

It attributes this to the economy; how people are driving less, producing less emissions.  Businesses are also producing less emissions as well because of layoffs and a decrease in consumption of goods.  I, on the other hand, have a much more logical (if not realistic) reason for this decrease: we are collectively “holding our breath” while waiting for the other shoe to drop, what with all this deficit spending and increased government intrusion (more commonly called regulation) and what that will mean for us long term.  As such, as anybody knows, when you hold your breath you don’t exhale.  The result of that is no carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by millions and millions of people!  Well, it’s worth considering, isn’t it?  Come on now, admit it: it could be true (couldn’t it)?
