Is It True: Are We All Racists?
This country recently did what it had never done before in its history: it elected an African American president. But, according to many, including former president Jimmy Carter, we are still racists, especially if we disagree with our first black president. But, is that true? The following link addresses that question, somewhat admittedly with tongue firmly planted in cheek:

I’m not taking a position one way or the other as to which side I come down on regarding Greg Gutfield’s take on the most recent comments by Mr. Carter, but I will include this one quote from the article that I do heartily amen:
Look, here’s the obvious: President Obama won. That wouldn’t happen in a racist country.
Another thing that has me questioning the seriousness of it all: How come we haven’t heard word one from Jesse Jackson or the “Reverend” Al Sharpton? Maybe they are thinking what most of us are thinking: Isn’t it time we all moved on? That is what the official response from the White House is:
ROBERT GIBBS, WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY: Well, let’s take a look at what former President Carter said. The answer that I’m going to give is the same answer that I gave on Sunday, when I was asked this question. The president does not believe that that criticism comes based on the color of his skin.
We might also remind ourselves what Mr. Carter said during the presidential campaign when he referred to Obama as “this black boy”:

Looks like Maureen Dowd was way late on her contention that Joe Wilson’s “you lie” was the equivalent of him saying “you lie, boy!” She had to put the word “boy” in Joe’s mouth, whereas there was no doubting that Jimmy Carter really said it!
Mr. Carter: SHUT UP! Please?
UPDATE 9-20-09
It seems that “Reverend Al” has finally weighed in! Here is the link to an excellent article that includes Mr. Sharpton’s position while being “interviewed” on Larry King’s show:
Al Sharpton tells CNN’s Larry King that decent and racially sensitive Americans shouldn’t let a small minority make health care into a “racial issue.”

I guess the equivalent “waiting for the other shoe to drop” would be hearing from “Reverend” Jesse. Stay tuned as I am sure he won’t allow an opportunity to speak out pass him by. Free press at its finest.
