PostHeaderIcon Uncle Jay Makes My Day!

Time for another week in review with the one and only Uncle Jay.  The word for the week is “disillusion”.  Tune in and give it a listen and have a great week!

And try not to be too disillusioned; we made it through last week, didn’t we?

So, when asked about Obama’s pitch to bring the Olympics in 2016 to Chicago, Rahm Emanuel made multiple references to Chicago’s “diversity” appeal in the following link with ABC’s Jake Tapper:

Here are the quotes from the interview:

· There’s no better city in the United States or the world to host the international community than Chicago — because of the diversity.

· Chicago’s a great competitive city—has always been that.  It has a great amount of diversity

· and it would be great for Chicago also for not only its diversity but for the economic opportunity that it provides in the sense of jobs and economic growth.

· The world will feel comfortable given the diversity of Chicago all the different ethnic communities are there.

· Chicago has that diversity and the capacity to hold these games in a way that nobody else does.

· It would be good for the US, for America to host the world here in the US with a great city, given Chicago’s diversity

Is it possible that, based on what type of diversity Rahm is referencing, the IOC decided to pass on Chicago during the first round of voting?  Here are some typical article links to address the possible definition of “diversity” in Obama’s “home” town today:

One of the most disturbing slayings came last week when the family of Alex Arellano found the 15-year-old’s body. He had been beaten, burned and shot in the head.

Maybe this is not what the world thinks of when it considers the true meaning of diversity?

PostHeaderIcon Yes We Can! (I Think…)

Well, apparently Mr. Obama’s flight to Copenhagen to throw his hat in the ring for the 2016 Olympics to be held in Chicago were not successful.  How difficult it must be for someone who is so used to being in campaign mode to “lose an election”.  Even sending his wife and her best friend Oprah ahead of him didn’t seem to make a difference.  What did make a difference was the huge amount of money spent on flying half way around the world and back (reportedly $1.2 million of our tax dollars!), as well as the carbon footprint left behind.

That and the apparent disregard the president has for our brave men and women in combat where he would deem it more important to lobby the IOC than to honor our military leader’s request for more troops.

What is most telling is the following quote made the summer before the election where candidate Obama revealed some key players that would make up his inner circle in the White House:

At a rally in Daley Plaza five months before the election, Obama drummed up enthusiasm for the bid (for Chicago to host the Olympics). He said: “In 2016, I’ll be wrapping up my second term as president, so I can’t think of a better way than to be marching into Washington Park alongside Mayor Daley, alongside Rahm Emanuel, alongside Dick Durbin, alongside Valerie Jarrett as President of the United States, and announcing to the world, ‘Let the games begin!’”

Along with all the other “signs” that should have tipped us off as to his true intentions, to state categorically that these two individuals (among many) would not only be part of his Chicago staff in the White House, but would still be with him eight years later, should send shivers up our spines (unlike the tingle up the leg Chris Matthews experienced).

One can only hope that, as his “bid” to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago failed, all his other bids to bring Socialistic endeavors to the United States will fail; especially the part about serving a second term!

So I say to you, Mr. president: Let the games begin!

But, as my good friend Allen Scott from eagleviews.org more aptly put it: let the games STOP! and start behaving as the President of the United States instead of acting like one on TV.  And to that I say: AMEN!
