PostHeaderIcon The Double Standard Raises Its Ugly Head Again!

To be a fan of Rush Limbaugh aside:

Don’t you think anyone in this great country of ours affluent enough, successful enough, should be free to invest their financial success without interference?  Obviously not if you have been following the full on frontal attack regarding Mr. Limbaugh and his desire to be a co-owner of a football team.  Seems that he is being accused of having made some racist remarks several years ago (that cannot be substantiated).  But that has not stopped the liberals from coming out in force, screaming that he must be stopped from investing his money as he sees fit.

Here is a link to Big Hollywood with a very telling expose’ on some other “investors” in NFL teams that, if held to the same standard that Mr. Limbaugh is simply being accused of, would not be allowed the same freedom Rush is being denied:

This is getting out of hand!  What next?  Maybe the Obama appointed pay czar telling private company CEOs just how much they can make?  Oh, wait, that is happening as well!

Now, you may think this is okay.  After all, how much do those evil rich really need anyway, right?  Well, just keep that in mind should you ever work hard and succeed because, if government and the main stream media are allowed to enforce their double standard on today’s successful achievers, they will be coming after you and me tomorrow.

Oh, that is unless we are paying them either money or lip service or fitting within their definition of “well, that’s just entertainment”, etc, and thus  be okay in doing what others aren’t allowed.  No double standard here…..

The following link with video is a must see for those who are confused about the definition of racism in America today.  You simply must watch and learn; it will be well worth the five plus minutes it will take to open your eyes to what some would like us to believe is the “true” definition of racism today, now that we have placed the first African American in the White House:

http://www.pjtv.com/video/Sonja_Schmidt%27s_Left_Exposed/Racism_Revival%3A_How_to_Be_A_21st_Century_Bigot_%28Senatorial_Primer_Included%29/2501/

As a matter of fact, instead of Obama being duly elected by a majority of voters, thus demonstrating just how far we have come as a nation when it comes to racism, it has placed the issue center stage.  Even Obama’s own statement that he doesn’t believe all the opposition to his policies is racist hasn’t stopped many from crying racism.

In addition, here is a quote from Rush Limbaugh’s program yesterday that neatly sums up this whole racism issue perfectly:

Nancy Pelosi is not black.  Harry Reid is not black.  George Soros is not black.  Max Baucus is not black.  Steny Hoyer is not black.  George Soros is still not black.  Barney Frank is not black.  Chris Dodd is not black.  Jay Rockefeller is not black.  Chuck Schumer would be black if it would give him more face time on TV, but even he is not black.  The only black and white here — and I want you to listen to me very carefully — the only black and white here is that all of these so-called reforms have nothing to do with reform and everything to do with liberals seizing more control of your lives.  That’s the only black and white, and it is crystal clear.  Health care is not about health care.  Health insurance reform is not about health insurance reform.  Cap and trade is not about saving the freaking climate, which is not endangered.  Porkulus is not about creating jobs.  TARP was not about bailing out the world financial system.  None of this is what it’s about.  That’s what’s black and white.  What’s black and white is that health care’s not about anything it claims to be.  This has nothing whatsoever to do with race.

Sigh…When will we ever be free to just move on?

PostHeaderIcon No One Has The Corner On Racism

Today, I read an article by someone named Raina Kelley, who addresses at great length the issue of race.  In it, she takes the stand that much of the country is taking issue with president Obama simply because of the color of his skin.  Here is the link:

http://www.newsweek.com/id/215742

I think she is being sincere, just sincerely wrong.  She has arrived at a point in our nation’s history where she can freely express her opinion, regardless of the color of her skin.  And I am also free to disagree.  The full realization of this fact apparently escapes her as she puts forth her opinion based, from what I can see, on the color of her skin and not the content of society’s character.   In fact, I take the position that she is not being completely honest.  I think she is a racist.  But, before you judge that last statement, let me explain:

I say she is right in the sense that there is racism in society today.  But, it is not exclusively a white on black issue.  There has always been racism in society, even before the advent of slavery involving blacks or, for that matter, the advent of the United States of America.  Racism is not exclusive to this country; it is a worldwide phenomenon.  And it has been around since the beginning of time.

And, that racism is not one-sided.  There are those who look down on whites, blacks, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans and all types of immigrants, as well as men against women and women against men.  There is even racism within each race.  We are constantly measuring the value of those around us based, at least in part, on how we see ourselves.  It is called human nature.  And, since we are all part of the human race, no one is completely exempt from racism.

So, what to do with Ms. Kelley’s contention that we must “play the race card” in order to openly discuss the issue and, by doing so, be able to finally put it to rest?

Personally, it is my position that, no matter how we address the issue of racism, we will never fully remove it from our psyche, simply because we are a melting pot of races attempting to make it through our day the best we can.  Just as we sometimes find ourselves struggling to make ends meet, to pay the bills and put food on the table, we will always find ourselves struggling with this thing called racism.

As I post this blog today, president Obama has come out stating that, those speaking out in opposition to his administration are not doing so solely based on the color of his skin.  I say “good for you Mr. president”!  It should not escape us that, if we were truly a racist nation as Ms. Kelley would have us to believe, the first African American president would still be a far off future dream instead of a present day reality.

I once again default to the two Kings within our society today to hopefully begin the healing process that will once and for all deliver us out of this quagmire called racism:

“I look for the day when we will be judged by the content of our character and not by the color of our skin”- Martin Luther King Jr.

“Can’t we all just get along?”- Rodney King
